The iconic world of Fist of the North Star is making a powerful return.
The official website for the upcoming new anime adaptation of the classic manga by Buronson (story) and Tetsuo Hara (art) has just unveiled its first key visual, featuring none other than the legendary martial artist Kenshiro. Alongside the visual reveal, it was officially announced that the series is slated to premiere in 2026.
Celebrating 40 Years of Hokuto Shinken
The new anime is being developed as part of the 40th anniversary project for the original manga, which first ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1983 to 1988, spanning 27 tankōbon volumes. Widely considered a genre-defining masterpiece, Fist of the North Star has seen multiple adaptations over the years, including TV anime, OVAs, and even a 1995 live-action film starring Garry Daniels.
This latest adaptation promises a fresh take while honoring the series’ gritty tone, intense action, and unforgettable catchphrases that helped define a generation of shōnen storytelling.
