Uta no Prince-sama: TABOO NIGHT XXXX Film Reaches One Million Tickets Sales

Two anime giants are joining forces once again. As Anime Expo 2025 approaches, Crunchyroll is teaming up with legendary Japanese pop culture magazine Newtype for a special anniversary collaboration—an exclusive collector’s magazine that will only be available at Anime Expo 2025 and Anime NYC 2025.

First published in 1985, Newtype is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and this commemorative issue is packed with editorial features, striking cover art, and exclusive content you won’t want to miss.

A Double-Cover Collector's Release

The magazine features dual cover artwork, with the front spotlighting Gachiakuta—one of the most hyped new shōnen titles—and the back featuring the long-awaited return of Black Butler with its Emerald Witch Arc.

Inside, fans will also find features and exclusive insights on:

  • Solo Leveling

  • My Dress-Up Darling

  • Kaiju No. 8

  • A double-sided poster showcasing Gachiakuta and rising Chinese anime hit To Be Hero X

Why These Covers Matter

Leading the issue is Gachiakuta, the gritty, high-energy series by Kei Urana that's already being hailed as the “next Attack on Titan.” The anime adaptation is in development at Studio Bones (My Hero Academia, Fullmetal Alchemist), adding serious weight to the hype. The cover art features protagonists Rudo Surebec and Enjin, drawn in the series’ signature bold style.

On the reverse, Black Butler makes its grand return after four seasons and a feature film. The Emerald Witch Arc, animated by CloverWorks (Spy x Family, Bocchi the Rock!), picks up the gothic drama in a new, fan-favorite storyline that’s been long-awaited.

Where to Get It

The Crunchyroll News x Newtype magazine will be free to attendees at:

  • Anime Expo 2025 (Crunchyroll booth – July 4–7, Los Angeles)

  • Anime NYC 2025 (November 2025, New York City)

Whether you're a longtime Newtype collector or new to the magazine, this limited-run edition is a must-have for anime fans heading into the second half of 2025.
